Position - Accounts / Finance Assistant

Job Description

The ideal candidate will assist and support the Finance Offer by performing various payroll and administrative duties in a busy and fast-paced office environment.

Hours: 30 hours per week

Worktime: Monday-Friday. Hours are flexible - to be discussed during interview

It will be possible for the successful candidate to work from home occasionally, once training is complete


Duties:

  • Assist in all aspects of processing the weekly and monthly payroll and payment of such
  • Assist in all aspects of the processing and payment of weekly and monthly staff pensions
  • Maintain all records in relation to payroll and pensions
  • Respond to payroll queries
  • Issue pay slips to employees
  • Issue relevant forms to employees in relation to payroll as and when needed
  • Assist in maintaining HMRC records
  • Update starter/leavers records – manual and computerised
  • Maintain staff training tables
  • Create and maintain databases as needed
  • Assist in maintaining the daily cash book, monthly accounts book and wages book
  • Reconcile petty cash
  • Issue Company invoices/receipts when required
  • Maintain invoice book and relevant records
  • Assist in all aspects of payment of bills/invoices, including liaison with clients, suppliers etc.
  • Record and file cheque and BACS payment remittances
  • Reconciliation of cash/cheque receipts
  • Bank lodgments when required
  • Provide support in the preparation of financial reports
  • Stationery and stamp stock take and ordering of such
  • Support Finance Officer in day to day operations – including but not limited to typing, photocopying, filing, scanning, emails, answering telephone
  • Reception cover when required

Essential

  •  GCSE grades 4 -9 or A -C (or equivalent),  
  •  At least 2 years’ experience of working in payroll and using payroll software
  • Have basic understanding of PAYE
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and function effectively under strict, recurring deadlines
  • You must demonstrate proficiency in the use of IT packages in particular Microsoft Office

 

Desirable

  • Experience of using BrightPay payroll software 
  • Experience in high volume variable payroll 
  • Experience in auto-enrolment pensions 
  • Experience in accounts payable/receivable
